Brief HistoryMBNA was founded in the US in 1982 and rapidly became the world’s largest independent credit card lender. We began to issue credit cards as MBNA in the UK in 1993, establishing our headquarters in Chester. In Ireland, we opened for business in March 1997 and have grown to become one of the largest credit card providers in the country, employing more than 1,000 people at our offices in Dublin and Carrick-on-Shannon. In 2006, MBNA became the European credit card arm of Bank of America – one of the largest financial institutions in the world. With a commitment to deliver higher standards and a drive to exceed our customers’ expectations, our business has grown, and today we employ over 5,000 people across three countries as the largest credit card lender in Europe. |
